Philip McLaughlin reporting.
Today we went from Nebraska to Cody, WY. We're on the doorstep of Yellowstone right now.
The overall theme for today was the Oregon Trail. We followed the Platte River and we found out what Chimney Rock is made of: layers of sandstone and volcanic ash. Chimney Rock was a landmark that the pioneers would watch for on the trail.
We also saw some ruts in the sandstone that had been left by the thousands of wagons going west. There were cacti there.
We drove a really cool road through the mountains to reach Cody. We spent the night here in a tee-pee.
Thursday we make our final jump into Yellowstone!
